Terroir Matters EVOO Duo
At our world-famous tasting bar, we taste organic Koroneiki EVOO from Crete AND our newest baby to be proud of: BACKYARD EVOO. We imported 500 Koroneiki trees from Crete in the mid '90's, becoming the first commercial (and Certified Organic!) growers in the U.S. of this teeny tiny wonder. This little baby IS mostly seed; and that's where most of an EVOO pressing comes from! It's like tasting Pinot Noir from Washington state and then tasting a Pinot from our own Santa Barbara wine country. The same fruit; completely different finish and flavor profile. Why? Terroir! That fancy word for "dirt". It matters! (750ml Koroneiki from Crete, 375ml Koroneiki from Los Olivos, CA)
